Non-directive web consultancy places you in the driving seat. It boosts your thinking about your organisation and web presence; it helps you understand what is possible online, so that you can make informed decisions.
Whether you need to develop a website from scratch or strengthen your web presence, I can walk alongside, showing you how to develop your site, challenging your thinking and decisions, helping you deliver a site that works for your organisation.
The Assessment
The first step is to assess your organisation’s needs and capacity. After this first consultation, you will receive a written document listing everything you need to develop and maintain your web presence. So, let’s review it step by step:
Step 1: Preparation of the Assessment
This will depend upon your circumstances but normally something like this will happen:
- After you have booked your assessment, I will send you a questionnaire. This can be completed by one person or a few people as you choose.
- I will review your current online presence
- After you’ve returned the questionnaire, we can meet face-to-face, by phone, with Skype or a Google Hangout. Over up to two hours, we’ll dig deeper into your organisation’s needs and capacity.
- I will send a written assessment to you.
- We can discuss the assessment if you wish.
As we work together, we will discuss:
- your organisation’s priorities and how your online presence can support them;
- what your organisation must do to support your web presence;
- potential for collaboration with partner organisations;
- your capacity to work with me to develop your organisation, your partners and your online presence.
The assessment may be all you need or else it will be a preliminary to further work with a consultant.
Step 2: The Content of the Assessment
I will tailor the assessment to your needs. However, it is likely to include most or all the following:
- Background information about your organisation, its projects and online presence.
- Your organisation’s aims in real life and online.
- A list of activities you need to undertake to develop and / or maintain your web presence.
- Your capacity to carry out some or all the work in-house and whether you need training.
- Help to prioritise the list according to the sequence in which things have to be done and your organisation’s priorities.
- Help to decide who can carry out each of the items on the list.
- Some sense of the likely costs of outsourcing each item. Your costs will depend on what items you choose to outsource from your list.
Step 3: Implementing the Assessment
You will have a number of options.
- As far as possible, the assessment will equip you to do the work in-house. So, you can choose to do some or all the activities in-house.
- Or you may decide to pay someone to walk alongside your organisation, to help you review progress, generate new ideas and troubleshoot problems.
- You might comb through the list of activities and choose to do some in-house and outsource others. This way you can target your budget, to those things which will be most helpful to you.
- You can outsource all the work . This is likely to be cheaper than hiring a member of staff and will free your staff and volunteers for other work. You will still need to manage your relationship with your external consultant and you will always be responsible for your content.
The assessment will help you commission work with any consultant; there is no obligation to engage me for further work.
If you need a new website my offer will include keyword research, search engine optimisation, conversion rate optimisation, etc. I’ll get a site online as soon as possible and then we’ll develop it together over an agreed period, most likely 6 months.
Whether or not you need a website, the assessment will include social media.
My offer will include, either:
Training and development to equip a team of people with the skills to develop and maintain your online presence. We will work together, mainly online, discussing progress. I will comment on your team’s work to alert them to opportunities and issues.
or:
A package, for an ongoing consultancy relationship. This might include organisational or partnership development as well as management of your web presence.
How Much Will It Cost?
- I charge £200 for your assessment, paid in advance.
- If you are not satisfied the assessment has helped you, then I will refund your money in full. This is a no quibble guarantee.
- Furthermore, if you agree to further work with me I shall deduct £200 from your first invoice! This means you have no obligation to continue to work with me but will have paid me for the work I’ve done should you choose not to engage me.
So, why not apply for your assessment now? You will find this is the most economical way to improve your online presence.
